Battery, Data and Thoughtful Mobile Play

Efficient assets, optional downloads and clear save behavior are part of the player experience.

Make network use legible

A game should explain when it needs a connection, when a large download begins and which play remains available offline. Optional content can wait for Wi‑Fi or explicit approval.

Transparent behavior matters more than a vague “online features” label.

Respect the device

Unbounded frame rates, constant background activity and oversized effects can drain a phone during a short session. Performance settings and efficient assets help players choose the tradeoff.

Editorial review can note heat, battery change and network behavior only when a documented test was actually performed. This pre-publication edition makes no such test claims.

Save before interruption

Operating systems may suspend a game without warning. Frequent local checkpoints and clear sync status protect progress. A cloud icon should not be the only explanation of whether a save completed.

Design for the phone as it is used: moving between networks, power states and everyday interruptions.
